Gayle Tapper (harp and tin whistle)
Gayle is an active performer and teacher of harp music. Well-known as a solo player of South American, celtic and classical harp, Gayle also plays electric harp and explores her instrument across genres of traditional, world and improvisational music. Gayle was the principal harpist for many years with the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra, and has been a performer many times with the Sound Symposium in St. John’s. Gayle has been featured as a live guest on the CBC radio programs Jurgen Gothe’s Disc Drive and has been featured twice on Francesca Swann’s MusicCraft. Gayle is a also member of the Art Stoyles Band,she has taught harp many years at the Vinland Music Camp, held in Gros Morne each August and been active in festivalssuch as the St. John’s Folk Music Festival and the Trails, Tales and Tunes Festival. Gayle’s CD Here the Tides Flow is a distinctive production of world music for harp.
